Since forming in 2004 DJ & the KarismaKatz have established
themselves as a versatile group playing acoustic jazz, blues and
roots music. They often perform as a Duo featuring singer, songwriter and blues-harp player DJ Gosper and singer, guitarist/songwriter Christo Carlsen(and sometimes with special guests), DJ & the 'Katz have been described as “refreshingly original”, “honest, intense, unpretentious” and “a class act”. Their sound is sophisticated yet earthy and they have a great
rapport with their audiences.DJ & her ‘Katz have been moving audiences with their roller coaster ride of raw emotion and dynamic tension delivered with truly impressive musicianship. Attributing to their success is their mutual musical exploration of the space between the notes, syncopated rhythms and slightly
sneaky moods! In November 2007 DJ scooped the Canberra Blues Society Awards winning three of the six music categories: "Best Vocalist", "Best Instrumentalist", "Best Song" (Burn Baby Burn, co-written with KarismaKatz guitarist, Christo Carlsen). Christo Carlsen joins DJ on acoustic guitars and vocals. A veteran of the Canberra music scene, Christo's unique rhythmic acoustic guitar style, developed through years of busking, leaves entranced audiences in awe! Also a fine vocalist, he and DJ create evocative and playful vocal harmonies. DJ and Christo usually perform as a duo but often have special guests artist join them - percussion, flute, slide guitar etc. They enjoy exploring the space between the notes, syncopated rhythms and subjects slightly subversive! Ideal band for private, weddings, festivals, wineries, pubs, clubs and corporate occasions.

He covers the fabulous standards of Frank Sinatra, Tony Bennett, Nat King Cole and some original jazz material, much like the genre that Michael Buble has bought to life.
