GEOFF ACHISON (VIC) Acoustic Solo Singer/Guitarist
Band: Geoff Achison and the Souldiggers
Contemporary Blues
Australia’s most successful blues export. Achison first appeared on the Melbourne scene in the early 90's as the young hotshot guitarist with veteran bluesman Dutch Tilders. He toured with the Tilders band before releasing his debut CD 'Big Machine' marking Achison's arrival as not only a fine player but also a capable songwriter, bandleader and vocalist. ("...the boy can sing!" - Max Crawdaddy '94). In 1995 he travelled to the USA to represent Melbourne performing at the International Blues Challenge in Memphis. Geoff won the coveted 'Albert King Award' (the first non-American to do so) and went on to score an endorsement deal with Gibson Guitars USA. He returns regularly to America playing bars, clubs and music festivals. His 'Gettin Evil' CD was recorded in Oregon with his US based Souldiggers band. This man creates unbelievable music! Currently in the USA, and is back in Australia in November 2008.
